Project: Self-directed Study
Graphic Design | Photography
Some see a map of downtown Canberra, others see a motherboard. This project stemmed from a previous study (Mapping) which demonstrates the value we hold on our cities through a series of manipulated maps. In this project, a motherboard was photographed and manipulated onto a satellite image of Canberra. Much like a city a motherboard holds similar characteristics: a central hub/CPU with the paths that follow and lead to other units and functioning properties. These units hold critical value in order for a computer to function properly, just as a city relies on several jurisdictions. The similarities between the two are alarming, if one piece stops working then the whole begins to crumble. This photo-manipulation demonstrates just how crucial urban and environmental planning are for city infrastructure, as it holds the same principal value for technology.
